Sweet & Simple Birthday Party

We're all about extravagant themed parties, but sometimes it's nice to have a simple birthday celebration at home with a few special details. Stick to a color scheme, choose only 1 or 2 DIY projects, and let yourself relax and have a good time at your own party!

Margot's Lemonade Stand 5th Birthday Party

I was pretty thrilled when my 4 year old declared that she wanted to have a lemonade stand birthday party! We got right to work having my husband build a stand and beginning party prep. Her birthday is in October, and luckily we had beautiful weather for an outdoor party! Here's what we threw together:

This party was also featured on the Hostess with the Mostess blog, and you can hop over there to read more about how we put it all together.

What I Want For My Birthday

It may be a little childish, but somewhere in between turning 5 and 35 I developed a desire to make a list of things I want for my birthday! Before anyone gets too excited about the immaturity of this act, just a side note that of course what I really want most is just for my family and friends to be healthy and happy, for my business to succeed, for security and peace... yada yada yada. Now, on to my more materialistic side. I want...

Mint Smeg refrigerator
A trip to Paris or maybe another far away place...
Heroic Chief Blanket by Pendleton
A Brittany Spaniel
Dinner at Cleveland Heath
Cute orange tote
New polka dots sunnies
"Escape the ordinary" bangle
A new housekeeper
Kinfolk Magazine
Tartine Bakery Cookbook
Pottery from Nelle Designs
Makeover/ New Makeup
Tic Tac Toe!
A day at the 4 Seasons Spa

Now I have just under 2 months to try and figure out how to get these things!

St. Louis Party Supplies

Sucre Shop's studio is based in St. Louis, and we sure love this city we live in! I'm not a born and raised mid-westerner, but I really admire the way this big city acts like a small one. Still we have all the amenities of living somewhere much larger, including all of these fantastic local places which help our parties go with a bang:

Kiwi Magazine Feature

Kiwi magazine is dedicated to helping parents raise their children in the most natural way possible. They're a fantastic resource for recipes and activities, filled with beautiful pictures and a happy perspective on raising children.

This month Kiwi magazine editors rounded up some of their favorite natural items for parties, and included our stripes & dots forks! (They also got thrown into a pretty shot with some yummy looking quesedillas... mmmmmmmm!) Thanks Kiwi!
