Shop Like You Mean It

My annual post to encourage you to shop small is here! It's not just something people say, it's really important to live it. Can you imagine what the community would be like if shopping was all Wal-Mart and Target? Ugh!

Buy jewelry or subscribe to a gift box, and a portion of the sale goes directly back to women's charities.
-They offer 20% off your first order when you sign up for their newsletter
-I bought several of their Perfect Layers bracelets for family and friends. For $29.95 you really can't go wrong.

Want to help a local artist or entrepeneur? Go to Kickstarter and search your city!

Shop Etsy for things made in and shipped from St. Louis! If you're not in St. Louis, you can find your city by searching it in the search bar, when your results come up, go to the left side where it says "refine your search" and it lets you enter "custom option" where you can input your city or zip code. Once that comes up, make sure you clear your city from the search bar at the top (you can leave it blank and hit search).

Some of my favorite stores in St. Louis are: Bowood Farms, Garden Heights Nursery, Geranium, Art Mart, Paper Dolls, Klutch, and all the antique malls like Treasure Aisles, and Warson Woods, and I can't wait for Lemon Gem to open.

If you're not going to shop local, at least consider supporting businesses that give back.

Purchase of their products gives meals to children.
-Sign up for offers and receive 10% off your order.
-I love their products! I'm currently coveting this mudcloth inspired striped pouch for $35, which gives 25 school meals to children around the world:

More businesses that give back...

Puravida bracelets, lets you select which charity you'd like to support, and there are lots of options!
Skyline Socks sells socks with the skylines of major cities on them, and when you purchase a pair, it donates a pair for socks to someone in that city.
You may have seen Yoobi's bright, fun stationery & office supplies at Target, why not buy from them directly? For every item you buy, they donate an item to a U.S. school in need.
